Abstract In this study, test method for evaluating root resistance with a imitated planting a plant root extension is strong, as well as rhizome driven method were conducted after installation of waterproofing and root-resisting materials, and the results are like the followings. With these results, simple test method for evaluating root resistance was suggested, and new materials can be developed by the suggested method and process. Until 2nd month After rhizome driven work, asphalt seal that is a kind of soft material was penetrated by root on the basis of membrane, LLPE sheet was on the joint of membrane. That is because LLPE sheet was adhered by soft butyl rubber on the joint of membrane, by hard material on the basis of membrane. This study is the basic step, so more observation till September at least is necessary. We will judge the result fail and if it is over the standard value, we will move forward with root(rhizome) driven test. And then the sheet is not punched by root(rhizome) driven test, it will be pass or fail. This is the epochal method that can reduce the test time from 2 years to just 1 year. But this method is needed to develop the confidence level over the 80% compared with the general planting test by doing root(rhizome) driven test repeat continually. With these results, I suggest that we need to develop the more perfect root resistance system. Through this simple test method and process for evaluating root resistance, new root resistance materials can be developed in a very shortly time.
