Abstract |
This study compares the spatial structure and area composition between Korean and Kazakhstan apartments by focusing on the unit plan. Finding the differences of the living characteristics and deriving the similarities of the spatial plans between the two countries are the goal of this study. Space Syntax and statistical method are used to determine materials objectively. 3LDK unit plans of the two countries are selected as a target. On spatial structure side, Korean apartments are living room-centered plan and Kazakhstan apartments are entrance-centered plan. Moreover, on the functional side, Korean apartments are designed in economical way. However, both countries show similar rank of spatial elements: 1. public area 2. kitchen area 3. private area 4. service area. Also, it is analyzed that the importance of private space such as bedrooms and public space such as living room in both countries have raised. This study is meaningful by showing the apartments, the product of the modern housing derived from industrialization, have different spatial characteristics between the different cultural area, but both persist the basic composition principles of housing. |
