Abstract In consideration of the aerodynamic characteristics of the wind, the shape of the building is in a very close relationship with the wind problems. We know through preceding studies that large negative pressure is generated in the corner of the side face of the building, thus modified corner is effective in reducing the wind load. Preceding studies were performed in wind tunnel test. On the other hand, we figure out the behavior characteristics of the building by the wind through the numerical analysis simulation. Study models with certain height were carried out by applying modified corner. We compare the analytical and experimental results of various modified corners model and find the most optimized shapes of corner on wind load reduction. Finally, we prove to optimize the shape of the actual building by applying 1-way FSI analysis.
