Abstract |
The extreme experiments in the houses and the housing of SANAA (Kazuyo Sejima and Ryu Nishizawa) is relatively unknown compared with their public buildings. This study intends to analyse the decomposition and recomposition of domestic spaces in the projects of SANAA. Their reconsideration of basic domestic unit such as corridor, room, terrace, garden, etc is related to how to redefine and the contemporary life how to reorganize the relation of room/corridor, room/room, interior/exterior, house/city, house/garden, etc. Though their experiements look totally new, the analysis reveals that they can trace back to the japanese traditional domestic space and even to 'Raumplan' of Adolf Loos. This study aims to analyse the experiments of SANAA in domestic space, to trace the genealogy and to find the meaning in the contemporary life and society. |
