Abstract |
The purpose of this study was to investigate the flexural behavior of reinforced granite members in the Stone Pagoda of Mireuksa Temple Site. Flexural tests for six granite members reinforced by stainless steel bars were performed to determine the reinforcement method. Three stainless steel bars were inserted to drilled holes after injecting epoxy resin. Main parameter was the location of reinforcement. Material properties of the granite and stainless bars were obtained by uniaxial compression and tension tests, respectively. The critical stress intensity factors (KIc) and brittleness numbers (Np) were also determined by testing. Empirical equation for the modulus of rupture was proposed as function of compressive strength. As a result, the reinforced granites showed a good strength and ductility in compared to the granite with epoxy resin. Flexural moment strength was obtained from cross-sectional analysis and four types of flexural behavior depending on the location of reinforcement were proposed in this paper. |
