Abstract |
In this paper, new PC-RC composite column named ES2 system was proposed. To tranfer the shear forces between the high-strength PC and normal-strength RC, two types of shear keys were compared: hemispheric- and trapezoid-shaped shear keys. Tests on short column specimen were carried out to evaluate compressive capacity based on the existence and shape of the shear key. Crack patterns and strain distributions were also observed. From the result, it was found that compressive strength of the column with shear keys could be reduced depending on the arrangement and shape of shear keys. Otherwise, it was found that shear keys have a positive effect on integrity of the composite column. The proposed equation to predict the compressive strength of a PC-RC composite column showed good agreement with the experimental results. |
