Abstract In these days, it becomes very important that walking is not only a way of moving, but also works as a role vitalizing an urban structure and a regional economy. Pedestrians respond diversely and irregularly according to their purposes of walk and one’s gender and age. For this reason, pedestrian flow prediction carries an important meaning. Several attempts lately have been made to predict pedestrian movement, however, most of them are confined to geometrical structure of a space. In addition, as agent modeling system is used, it becomes possible to reflect varying patterns of actual pedestrians, but it still stays in an experimental phase. Thus, this research attempts to develop an agent modeling system reflecting fluid patterns of pedestrians and applicable to an actual urban-development project. Through this attempt, it is expected to enable to plan appropriate pedestrian environment in urban development project. Furthermore, it can be used to improve a pedestrian environment of an existing urban structure.
