Abstract Hillier and Hanson pointed out in ‘The Social Logic of Space’ that the outside of the building is social space that is related to encounters like the inside They also pointed out that the inside and outside may have opposing roles, and that buildings with the dual feature of opposing roles have the possibility of bearing new social relationships This study is intended to clarify that the types of space in the variation of malls are different from the existing concept of building type - that is, “The outside of buildings takes charge of symbolism, while the inside takes charge of function or sociality” - based on the discussion of Hillier and Hanson and will set a new concept (양동적(兩 同的) 건축형: Identical role) It also states that the difference in the concept is most important in neighborhood planning, and becomes the factor that creates commercial architecture where the pedestrians can walk around and enjoy shopping, the local people can actually begin to interact, and the spaces are filled with amenities
