Title Residential Needs and Characteristics of Space Usage according to the Lifecycle of Residents in Flexible Apartment Housing

Abstract This study has been identified residential requirements and characteristics of space usage according to the lifecycle in the residents living in R apartment in Youngin City, a leading flexible community housing in Korea to find out the planning elements for flexible housing. The result are as follows: 1) just married couple and senescence couple use couple's bedroom for sleeping, living room for TV watching, reading, studying, playing, small room for dress room, while couple in education for children use space in many ways according to their behaviors. In case of senescence, it is recommendable to plan space division in bedroom, for they keep separate bedrooms. 2) couple in raising children want to move bigger house for bigger storage space according to their children's growing up, while couple in senescence are satisfied with the present space, meaning 59m2 is adequate. 3) It is verified that planning elements are lifecycle and major behaviors and demand for the size of room, location, number of space, its usage, and placement may vary according to the elements; extracted planning elements for flexible housing.
