Abstract |
Experimental and numerical studies have conducted to investigate the structural behaviors of thin-walled single shear bolted connections with ferritic stainless steel in the previous study. The validation of finite element (FE) analysis model has been verified to predict the ultimate strength, fracture mode and curling influence through comparison with test results. This paper focused on the influence of curling on ultimate strength and the conditions of curling occurrence with extended variables such as plate thickness and end distance. Comparison between parametric analysis results and predictions by current design specifications (AISC, KBC, AIJ and ASCE) was made. The design specifications did not consider the strength reduction by curling effect and fracture mechanism. Lastly, modified equation considering curling effect was proposed. |
