Abstract |
The study aims to propose one of the urban regeneration methods to activate a local community, for which it applies 'Dongnae Folly' model to an old low-rise village with focus on the area of 574, Geumho-dong 3-ga, Seoul. Large-scale urban redevelopment projects have been increasingly cancelled or neglected since 2011. As a result one combined large villages have been recently broken into pieces and some old villages been isolated among large-scale new apartment complex. Such isolation caused villages to be socially depressed and physically fallen behind. Therefore, it is highly required that we should take a proper action to revive these districts. This paper tries to find a way to reconsider the fundamental principles of community, the patterns of lives and movements of the residents, instead of just suggesting superficial solutions like painting walls or fixing street structures. This study first recognizes the importance of the location of basic community spaces such as a well side or a village hall of traditional villages by preceding research. On the basis of it, the study finds the meaningful spots in the village by axial analysis of space syntax, historical research and site analysis. Finally it proposes the method and the model of planning small community spaces depending on its original path, surroundings, and local characteristics. |
