Abstract This paper is the study that is intended to suggest efficient methods to install reflective insulators by using aluminum thin films that are the most commonly used ones as a material for reflective insulators. As a result, the following conclusions are obtained., After installing a reflective insulator, the efficacy of insulation didn't show a correlation with separation distance between the reflective insulator and the finishing material in the state that the space was sealed from the outside. The reason is thought to be that the reflective insulator was not able to show its function properly in the sealed space. Therefore, it is judged that the reflected radiant heat should be discharged into the outside so that the efficiency of a reflective insulator can be improved after installing it. And it was found that it would be the most efficient construction method that the reflective insulator is installed on the low temperature side of a material, and there should be a space of 30mm in front of it so that the air in the space can cause a convection current. However, if the reflective insulator is installed on the high temperature side, it was shown that it didn't have an interrelationship with the thickness of the front space. It is judged that this is linked with thermal features of heat reflecting materials.
