Abstract Existing masonry operations models retain several discrepancy. They neither explicitly consider the generation and the consolidation of processing entity, and their generation and consolidation points, nor define the unit(or amount) of processing entity over which tasks pass each other. Handling these issues may contribute defining the start and end points of each task in time, hence measuring more accurately the cycle time for producing a production unit. This study identifies the resource types used for masonry operation, collects the number of each resource and its unit cost, and models the non-stationary time (NST) of a task, time increment, and increment interval. This paper presents a method that encourages the standardization of an operation simulation model and the reusability of it by comparing the operation performances between a simulation model that takes into account NST and another model that dose not. The usability and validity of the model is validated by performing a test case for a real world masonry operation.
