Abstract |
As buildings become larger and more complex, building management are required to be more specialized. In addition to core business activities in many organizations, there is an increasing need for efficient and effective management of buildings and assets. Facility Management (FM) is one of the fastest growing professional and operational areas worldwide, covering a wide range of activities such as building service management, environmental issues, work management, procurement and financial management. FM provides efficiency, productivity, competitiveness and cost savings for organizations. On the other hand, as internationalization in the business environment increases, the need for international standards is increasing in the field of FM. Accordingly, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has established ISO/TC 267 Facility Management and actively promoted the establishment of FM international standardization. As the international standards for FM have been established, proper management according to international standards has been required in the maintenance of domestic buildings and other facilities. The purpose of this study is to investigate the actual condition of FM industry in Korea, such as FM service quality, agreements and contracts, service level and key performance indicator to identify the characteristics of the FM environment in Korea, according to FM international standardization. This study examines the definitions of FM, the status of published FM international standards, and surveys the FM industry situation in Korea. |
