Abstract |
At first, two-way shear was assumed to be critical on a vertical section through the slab or footing extending around the column. Since then, most of the numerical models have focused on investigating the shear stress at the critical section and the location of critical section, but are often insufficient to exactly estimate the punching shear strength. In 2012, Korea Concrete Institute introduced the strain-based strength model to predict the two-way shear strength of reinforced concrete slabs more accurately. In this paper, provisions of the 2012 version of Concrete Design Code(KCI2012) and 2016 version of the Korea Building Code(KBC2016) related to punching shear design of reinforced concrete flat plates and footings at their connections with columns are reviewed, with intension to distinguish between the footing design and the flat plate design. To prove this intension, the test results of 4 specimens and the analysis results of 14 footing models are compared to the punching shear design strength for calibration of footing design provisions. |
