Abstract Domestic roof product manufacture design without structural design verification test has given rise to serious damage and failure of metal roofs. The existing conventional indirect fixation roof system cause excessive stress concentration and deformation in z-bar flange to which upper and lower plate is screwed. This improved direct fixation roof system uses the penetration stud without load transfer medium, so that it has little stress concentration and deformation. In this study, It is proposed that direct fixation system of roof system is more structurally safe and excellent than z-bar system. To prove this, Elements of two roof systems are classified by location and function and then load transfer mechanisms of key elements are investigated. Lastly two roof systems are verified comparison through plastic analysis.
