Abstract |
The foam plastic insulation material is relatively vulnerable to fire because of characteristics of the material. It is necessary to improve the
fire safety for the foam polystyrene insulation(EPS), so a prototype with the inorganic flame retardant was developed and tested. The
prototype had a high level of the self-extinguishing in horizontal and vertical combustion tests, and satisfied the level of semi-incombustible
according to the current regulation. The further research is required to improve the manufacturing of a foam polystyrene insulation with flame
retardants and the self-extinguishing of various organic insulation materials. In addition, it is more accurate to test both horizontal and
vertical combustibility as the self-combustion evaluation method for a foam plastic insulation. Under the current regulations, the panels are
classified as a flame retardant material, but it is necessary to consider the minimum performance standard for the flame retardant performance
of the inner material. |
