Abstract |
This study aims to conduct a comparative analysis of fine dust removal performance according to the design methods of ventilation systems
in a multifamily residential housing unit. To evaluate the performance of a ventilation system, Simulation House Model (SHM) was
constructed in a CONTAM environment to simulate the airflow in a duct system and assess the interzonal particle transport characteristics in
an actual residential housing unit. The key parameters like leakage areas of building components and particle transport parameters of SHM
were obtained from field measurements. The key parameters of SHM including leakage areas of building components and particle transport
parameters were obtained from field measurements. The results from the validation and SHM simulation provided a good prediction for the
indoor concentration of particle with a diameter of 0.3 μm that showed a correlation coefficient higher than 0.8. The simulation results
revealed that the clean air delivery rate (CADR) of an unbalanced ventilation system was reduced by up to 13% compared to a balanced
ventilation, especially when the interzonal particle transport was restricted with closed doors. |
