Abstract |
If aggregate containing a large amount of weathered clay fine particles was used as material for concrete, the quality performance of the
concrete would deteriorate. Nevertheless, there is no method for assessing weathered clay fine particles in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of
this study is to examine a method for assessing weathered clay fine particles contained in fine aggregate for concrete. As an assessment
method, the 0.08 mm sieve passing amount method was verified, and the suitability and possibility for the assessment method of X-ray
fluorescence (XRF) and methylene blue shared as a chemical method was confirmed. As a result, the 0.08 mm sieve passing amount method
was somewhat limited because it couldn’t analyze these components in principle. On the other hand, it was possible to assess the weathered
clay fine particles by a chemical reaction method using methylene blue or a method of analyzing components using XRF. In addition, since
the XRF method can quantitatively analyze these components, it is considered that the measurement deviation can be minimized and effective
assessment is possible. |
