Abstract This study aims to investigate the supply and demand status and structure of construction engineers within the construction industry, identifying factors influencing supply and demand and proposing policy improvements to address future imbalances. Findings indicated that the aging trend among construction engineers will persist, compounded by a decline in the school-age population, potentially leading to a shortage of young construction engineers. The importance analysis highlighted the significant impact of factors such as construction investment, productivity, order environment, and job prospects on supply and demand. Recommendations include increasing construction investment, establishing appropriate input standards for construction engineers, implementing a wage payment confirmation system, introducing innovative welfare measures, and improving the industry's image as a high-value-added one.
