Abstract This study proposes the optimal location for outriggers with varying stiffness in the two-outrigger system of high-rise buildings along the height direction. A schematic design of a 75-story building was used, considering key parameters such as stiffness ratios between upper and lower outriggers, outrigger stiffness, frame stiffness, and spacing between outriggers. The analysis included reviewing previous studies on the optimal two-outrigger location and the impact of stiffness ratios between upper and lower outriggers on their optimal position. This study presents more accurate equations than existing studies for calculating optimal outrigger positions in tall buildings with a vertical two-outrigger system.
