Abstract The Jaesil of the Royal Tomb of the Joseon Dynasty served as a space for performing rituals and managing the royal tombs. Until recently, several studies have been conducted on the Royal Tombs of the Joseon Dynasty and the royal family. However, most studies are limited to the Joseon Dynasty era, and it is difficult to find studies that pay attention to the modern changes in Jaesil. Therefore, this study examined the overall construction details related to the Jaesil of the royal tombs based on the Yi Wang-ga budget documents from the 1930s, which are currently housed in the National Archives, and analyzed the modern changes of Jaesil. As a result, the overall changes in the Jaesil of the royal tombs were summarized in four ways. Changes in the character of the building and exterior spaces, the introduction of new floor plans, the installation of sanitation, and the use of new materials.
