Abstract |
The main purpose of this study is to experimentally evaluate structural behaviors of reinforced concrete slabs with externally post-tensioning
steel rods. To do this, total five of test specimens were prepared to validate the retrofitting effects of steel rods by implementing tension
forces and the effects of installing additional topping concrete on the RC slab. The flexural strength and stiffness of retrofitted slab
specimens have respectively developed 3 and 5 times larger than those of unretofitted specimen. The retrofitting effect by implementing initial
post-tensioning forces on steel rods provided enhanced flexural strengths up to around 16% to 45% compared to that of reinforced concrete
slab. Furthermore, additional elongation of steel rods due to the flexural deformation of RC slab also provided enhancements of flexural
strengths up to 12 times larger than retrofitting effects provided by the intial post-tensioning forces on steel rods. The retrofitting effects due
to tensioning of steel rods takes about 60% of maximum flexural strengths of specimens measured during monotonic tests. |
