Abstract |
The dynamic relaxation method (DRM), a technique for analyzing and finding the form of cable structures, is explored in this study.
Specifically, Day’s (1965) approach is revisited and significantly reformulated to accommodate three-dimensional cable structures. All the
form-finding processes in the DRM are implemented in MATLAB as a custom code DRM and are further integrated into the Grasshopper
visual programming environment. This integration facilitates a new system for form-finding analysis using a visual programming language.
The effectiveness of this new system is demonstrated through four numerical examples. Results show that the proposed system is highly
efficient for both the analysis and form-finding of cable structures, highlighting its capabilities and practical benefits over existing methods. |
