Abstract |
This study investigated the in-plane seismic performance of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls strengthened with steel-bar truss systems
incorporating spring dampers. The spring dampers, compliant with the compatibility requirements outlined in KDS 41 17 00, were installed
along the diagonal elements of the truss system. The results showed that while the spring dampers had minimal impact on the peak strength
of the strengthened URM walls, they significantly improved ductility. Walls strengthened with the steel-bar truss system and spring dampers
demonstrated 1.79 times greater energy dissipation capacity and a 1.31 times higher equivalent damping ratio compared with the URM walls
strengthened with the conventional steel-bar truss system. |
