Abstract |
This study investigates the non-Gaussian characteristics of net wind pressure on open stadium roofs through wind tunnel experiments.
Skewness and kurtosis analyses were performed to identify the non-Gaussian characteristics of the structure, followed by the calculation and
evaluation of peak factors and extreme values using a translation process method. The results showed that most areas of the roof exhibited
significant non-Gaussian characteristics, particularly in regions influenced by flow separation and reattachment near the windward side and
roof openings. Additionally, the analysis revealed that assuming a Gaussian distribution for net wind pressure could result in underestimations
of up to 53% for peak factors and 55% for extreme values. These findings underscore the importance of considering non-Gaussian
characteristics in the wind-resistant design of open stadium roofs. |
