Abstract Modern architecture is a process of composing and forming complex blocks of space, including the local community and the surrounding environment. However, this process is often overlooked in many architectural designs. This study aims to present a new approach to architectural design by explaining how Actor Network Theory(ANT) can be applied to architectural analysis through the analysis of environmentally friendly architecture using ANT. In order to present a theoretical methodology for sustainable architectural design, this study conducted a close analysis of the correlation between human and non-human actors of Bruno's ANT that occurs in architectural design. Furthermore, by analyzing the cases of Diebedo Francis Kere's projects in North West Africa that practice environmentally friendly architecture, this study aimed to more closely understand how various environmental factors form interrelationships in the architectural process. The research results showed that in Kere’s architecture, there were active interactions such as translation and purification. Various non-human actors formed a close network by mutually influencing each other in the architectural process, and it was confirmed that the climate and regional characteristics of Northwest Africa were actively reflected in the design, practicing sustainable architecture in social, cultural, and environmental aspects. Kere's architecture can provide clues to resolving the blind spots of current contemporary architecture and contribute to promoting sustainable innovation in the architectural process. By analyzing Kere's approach through ANT, we aimed to establish a foundation for considering complex elements in architecture and urban development in a relational manner.
