Abstract |
This study examines Fællesbyg Køge Kyst, a community housing project in Denmark that adopts the German Baugemeinschaft model, to
identify potential implications for application in South Korea. Drawing on primary documents, interviews, and fieldwork conducted in 2024,
the analysis focuses on the project's establishment of autonomous governance, implementation of participatory design, and strategic balance
between construction costs and environmental goals. Located in the port redevelopment area of Søndre Havn in Køge, Fællesbyg Køge Kyst
brought together 45 households who formed an association, secured funding, and actively engaged in both the planning and construction
phases. Despite the absence of institutional support similar to that in Germany, the project adapted to local conditions through collaboration
with Køge Kyst P/S, the Affordable Housing Foundation, and the architecture firm Tegnestuen Vandkunsten. The findings underscore the
potential of the Baugemeinschaft model as both an architectural and social framework, supporting resident participation, daily interaction, and
public?private collaboration in the context of community housing. |
