Abstract |
This research aims to examine the architectural characteristics of Antonio Monestiroli, focusing particularly on how he interprets and applies
Andrea Palladio’s architectural concepts in his works. To achieve this, the study explores Monestiroli’s perception of architectural history as a
universal value and analyzes his approach to place and form by comparing him with Aldo Rossi and Giorgio Grassi within the context of
Italian Rationalism. The structure of the research compares Monestiroli’s architectural characteristics with those of other Rationalist architects
from the perspective of universality and specificity in architecture, highlighting both similarities and differences. Following this analysis, the
study conducts a comparative examination of Palladio and Monestiroli, investigating how each architect derives architecture from place and
form through an in-depth exploration of their works. The selected works emphasize the perspectives of universality and specificity, enabling
an analysis of the shared values present in both architects’ designs. Finally, by synthesizing the research findings, this study identifies
Palladio’s architectural concepts within Monestiroli’s works and illuminates the architectural values that remain relevant today. Through this
examination, the research aims to demonstrate that classical architecture continues to be inherited and sustained in contemporary architectural
practice, reaffirming the presence of universal architectural values that transcend time. |
