Abstract |
School complex facilities should be developed with consideration for factors such as school level, institutional characteristics, regional context, and facility demand. It is also essential to create accessible planning models that serve both schools and local communities. In line with these considerations, this study highlights the need for a temporal analysis of all school complex facilities in South Korea, which have been gradually implemented even before their widespread adoption. The aim is to provide foundational data by examining functional changes in facilities supplied or planned since the 2000s. The research draws on a comprehensive literature review and case study analyses of both domestic and international examples. Policy reports, academic papers, media coverage, and related documents were first reviewed to trace the development and current status of school complex facilities. Overseas case studies were then conducted with expert input to identify implications for the Korean context. Finally, domestic case analyses utilized survey data from the Korea Educational Development Institute in 2023 and facility planning documents for 2023-2024, including uncompleted projects, ensuring the study’s timeliness. |
