Abstract This study aims to quantitatively analyze the changes in apartment exterior colors after the implementation of Busan Landscape color guidelines. Apartment exterior color data were collected every five years from 2010 to 2025, and the characteristics of coastal areas, river areas, mountain areas, and inland areas were comprehensively identified. Color data for 2025 were collected using visual colorimetric method. The historical data were derived from street view imagery, with errors corrected based on on-site color measurements. The collected color data were analyzed using the Munsell color system to quantify hue, value, and chroma, and classified into main, sub and accent colors for analysis. The hue distribution has been an increase in neutral colors and a corresponding decline in warm colors. Cool colors notably increased in sub and accent colors. In terms of value, main colors tended to be consistently lighter, whereas sub and accent colors became darker increasing the contrast in value. Chroma trend indicated an overall reduction for main and sub colors across all regions, however accent colors showed partial regional differences. There are some differences in the rate and propotion of change by region, but similar trends across all regions. This revealed limited effectiveness of the regional landscape color guidelines.
