| Abstract |
Gyeongju, the ancient capital of the Silla Kingdom for nearly a millennium, preserves an extensive collection of historical remains and
archaeological sites. Although many have been identified and partially restored, a significant number remain unclassified or unmaintained due
to the sheer volume of heritage assets. The Archaeological Area of Nangsan Mountain also contains numerous relics and temple remains.
However, because it lies slightly outside Gyeongju’s central heritage zone centered on Wolseong, comprehensive research and investigation
have not yet been fully undertaken despite its historical importance. This study examines the current condition of temple remains within the
Nangsan Mountain Archaeological Area and reviews existing restoration and maintenance plans. Based on this analysis, several conservation
and management directions are proposed: conducting phased restoration according to site conditions, strengthening linkages between temple
remains and nearby heritage sites, and recovering elements of the urban structure of the Silla royal capital. |
