| Abstract |
This study examines urban spatial information needs of middle-aged adults by considering active senior characteristics and digital literacy as
contextual factors. Data were collected through an online survey of 351 adults aged 50 to 69 living in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. Urban
spatial information needs were categorized into three groups: historical and cultural space information, local amenities and neighborhood
facilities, and natural and recreational outdoor spaces. Among these, the need for local amenities and neighborhood facility information was
the highest. Multiple regression analyses were performed separately for each category to explore the influence of socio-demographic factors,
active senior traits, and digital literacy. Results showed that health status and gender significantly predicted all three types of urban spatial
information needs. Digital literacy had a selective impact depending on the information type. These findings indicate that urban spatial
information needs share common foundations but also display distinct characteristics according to the type of information. The consistently
higher demand among women, individuals with better self-rated health, and those with greater digital literacy underscores the importance of
prioritizing neighborhood-level facilities. |
