Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the results of evaluating the construction industry image of the general public based on the latest issue keywords and to propose a plan to improve the efficiency of image improvement projects. The main results derived by conducting this study are as follows. 1) In order to improve the limitations of the image evaluation methodology suggested in previous studies, the image evaluation methodology for the general public was re-established by resetting past image keywords and importance through expert research and verification. 2) As a result of the image evaluation of the general public for the construction industry, 596.64 out of 1,000 points were analyzed, and the negative image of sincere construction and corporate ethics was found to be particularly strong. 3) As a result of analyzing the change in the public's favorability for the construction industry, it was found that the situation was lowered by 6 steps compared to 2014. 4) It was found that the image improvement projects required by the general public were various construction-related social service activities (such as water restoration), social contribution activities for the low-income class and the vulnerable class, and the establishment of a platform for sharing necessary information by age in the construction industry. 5) A benchmarking plan for the case of advanced countries that can supplement the problems of the domestic image improvement project currently underway was presented in detail. Since this study was limited to the general public who could analyze the image outside the industry, there is a limitation in that no investigation has been conducted on engineers and technicians currently engaged in the construction industry. In the future, this study will supplement these limitations and conduct an in-depth analysis of the concrete project promotion plan.
