| Abstract |
As carbon neutrality in the building sector becomes more important, reducing energy consumption has become a key priority. This requires
systematic collection and analysis of building energy data. In Korea, energy consumption is recorded at the parcel level, making it necessary
to distinguish between parcels with a single building and those with multiple buildings. Buildings can therefore be classified into
single-building types, where one building exists on a parcel, and multi-building complexes, where two or more buildings share the same
parcel. Accurate assessment of building energy performance depends on aligning building attribute information with parcel-level energy data,
which in turn requires reliable classification of building types. In this study, building attribute data and spatial information were integrated to
create a nationwide classification of single-building types and multi-building complexes. Attribute data were obtained from the building
register provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, while spatial information was sourced from the GIS road-name
address electronic map provided by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Using the integrated dataset, a total of 4,840,374 buildings were
identified nationwide. Of these, 4,182,917 were classified as single-building types and 657,457 as multi-building complexes. This classification
framework provides a foundation for developing building energy analysis strategies tailored to the structural characteristics of each building
type. |
