| Abstract |
This study evaluates the seismic performance of beam-column connections in mass timber structures using glued-in rod connections. The
experimental variables consisted of rebar embedded lengths of 300 mm and 600 mm, along with balloon-type and platform-type column
connections. The seismic performance evaluation showed that the specimen with a 300 mm rebar embedded length experienced fracture in the
GLT beam at a 5 percent story drift ratio due to the loss of bond strength in the glued-in rod connection. Regardless of the column
connection type, specimens with a 600 mm embedded length exhibited similar seismic performance and showed greater stiffness, strength, and
ductility than specimens with a 300 mm embedded length. In addition, increasing the embedded length of the rebars resulted in
beam-to-column connections classified as rigid connections. These findings indicate that the design standard formula used to calculate the
embedded length of rebars should be re-evaluated. |
