| Abstract |
This study evaluates how occupants perceive and experience broadly defined interior design elements in LEED and G-SEED certified office
spaces compared to non-certified offices. While previous research has primarily focused on building performance metrics, this investigation
centers on user experience by examining the relationship between occupants’ expectations and their actual satisfaction with various interior
design features. Using Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA), the gap between users’ prioritization of specific interior design elements and
their satisfaction with these elements in practice is assessed. The analysis shows that several key features, such as noise control, natural
lighting, and VOC-emitting materials management, fall predominantly into the second quadrant of the IPA matrix, indicating high importance
but low satisfaction. Comparison reveals that certified offices generally achieve higher overall satisfaction, although certain user-centered
interior aspects still require improvement. These findings suggest that current whole-building certification systems may not fully capture
interior user satisfaction. Future workplace planning may benefit from incorporating interior-specific evaluation criteria, such as LEED ID+C,
to better enhance user experience. |
