| Abstract |
This study examines the 2022 Korea Principles, focusing on the relationships among significance, value, attributes, and Historic State, or
Wonsang. Moving beyond form-oriented conservation approaches, the Principles position value as the central basis for conservation decisions.
Significance serves as the primary criterion for decision-making, while attributes are understood as tangible and intangible carriers of value.
Most notably, the object of conservation shifts from the fixed concept of Original Form, or Wonhyeong, to the broader concept of Historic
State, which recognizes historical layers and change over time. This transformation reflects a distinct Korean approach that emphasizes both
ideological context and temporal continuity. As a framework for addressing contemporary conservation challenges, the Korea Principles
provide a strong philosophical foundation for this evolving paradigm. |
