| Abstract |
This study analyzes long-term trends in Korean housing research using the English abstracts of 2,035 housing-related articles published in the
Journal of the Architectural Institute of Korea from 1986 to 2021. Using LDA topic modeling and network analysis, 57 topics are identified,
and the top 16 are selected for in-depth examination of annual prevalence, inter-topic connectivity, and topic-specific methodological patterns.
The results indicate that Korean housing research has expanded from a focus on physical planning and housing form toward broader themes,
including resident characteristics, housing welfare, indoor environmental quality, energy performance, and carbon reduction. Methodologically,
the field has shifted from qualitative and case-based approaches to more quantitative and data-driven methods, such as surveys, statistical
analysis, GIS, simulations, and network analysis. This study contributes to a systematic understanding of the development of Korean housing
research by integrating thematic evolution and topic?method linkages. Future research should expand the dataset and incorporate policy-related
data to more directly examine the relationship between social and institutional change and housing research trends. |
