| Abstract |
In the Korean construction industry, site workers increasingly tend to distrust drawings due to frequent issues such as missing information
and discrepancies between the drawings and actual site conditions. Much of this problem originates from the persistent reliance on
paper-based drawing practices that remain dominant in the industry. While overseas markets have actively pursued digital transformation to
overcome these limitations, Korea has made relatively limited progress in establishing systematic responses. This study begins from this
awareness of the problem and aims to empirically identify the structural limitations of paper-based drawing systems through practitioners’
experiences, proposing conceptual directions for digital drawing technologies to address them. To this end, semi-structured interviews were
conducted with 30 practitioners working in architectural design firms and general contractors. The responses were categorized and quantified
to identify recurring tendencies, and additional focus group interviews (FGIs) were carried out to complement contextual interpretations. Rather
than seeking statistical generalization, this exploratory analysis prioritized six digital drawing technologies?including overlay and color-layer
functions?based on frequency and intensity indicators. The findings extend beyond a simple comparison of technological usefulness, providing
practical evidence for establishing future development and dissemination strategies of digital drawing technologies. |
