Title |
A Systematic Study on the Transition of the Meaning of Oriental Stupa Architecture |
Abstract |
This study has its purpose in finding out the cross-cultural differences in the felt images of the dominant colors on the exterior walls of various buildings, and also differences in the preferences of two-color combinations. Three countries Korea, the United States, and Japan-were purposively selected as its research subject, and it compares the dissimiliarities among them. The research reveals that a preferential tendency exists for each country in the image of a dominant color when considered the publicly known, yet unique functions a specific building has inside. This could be termed as 'a function-color match'. It also argues that there is certainly a preferred range of 2-color combinations people share. The preference tendency ifself is common across country. But the direction of tendency differs somewhat among nations. Korea differs ifself from the United States more than from Japan. The difference between Korea and the USA, and the one between the USA and Japan are not significant respectively. The research shows that difference by country is greater than by sex, age, and occupation. |
