Abstract Most of the residential seasonal colding load calculation using in Korea is for the office Building, This method is limited to the peak-load occuring in the time of 12-16 of the day, but because residential cooling load is always developing in the residential house for 24 hours, this cooling load may have to be considered with the cooling load.The purpose of this study is to provide a simple and precise method for estimating residential seasonal cooling load for hand-calculation and computer application.The method presented in this paper includes the temperature-bin, disign-day temperature curve, the effects of solar radiation, internal heat gains, outdoor temperature change on the cooling load for different periods of the day.The calculation method may be applicable to the calculating the seasonal cost and cooling performance of air-conditioners, also to investigate simply and quickly various energy saving options of the building envelope, and various heat sources contributing to the cooling load in the residential-house.
