Abstract After the establishment of Buddhism in India, it was introducted to Korea by the way of China. The original Buddhism religion was adapted to Korea and had a great influence on the spirit, art, and culture of the Korean people. To understand the adaptation of Buddhism, many studies of the architecture remaining I-Kou are in progress. However, they are restricted to the idea of the inmportance of Feng-Shui. Therefore, in this thesis, I studied Tong-do Temple and its amenities from a new point of view. This thesis aims to present a new interpretation of the temple, through the semantical study of the symbolism and the design of the temple territory, which reflects on the spirit of times as well as its sacredness and profaneness. An onthological study, reflecting on the placement and historicality of the temple, examined its organization, location, foundation and completed structure.
