Title |
A Study on the Gestalt Approach of Expression in Architectural Form |
Abstract |
This study examines the principles of Gestalt psychology to recognize our understanding of how we perceive an architectural environment. Gestalt psychology is described as the basic law of visual perception. The contents of the study are: 1)the study of architectural form in relation to the field theory in the laws of Gestalt theory as based on the principles of Pragnanz: 2)the study in relation to the principles of isomorphism as underlaid in Pragnanz. When a visual form is created for the effect of the organized experiences of people, it can produce artistic value as the expression of architectural form. In this respect, the study has exmphasized expressive qualities as being properties of organized whole by experience, particularly his own direct experience of form, and it hypothesizes that such an attempt to bring the formal aesthetics will enhance the quality of a visual environment. |
