Impact Analysis of Urban Redevelopment Project on Downtown Traffic in Seoul |
| Abstract |
It is quite clear that urban core redevelopment would result in concentration of urban functions at CBD and thus heavy traffic congestion. This paper examines the impact on downtown traffic due to the urban redevelopment project if completed as scheduled. It is identified that the floor space of CBD would increase by 33.2%, employment by 190 thousands and thus traffic during morning rush-hour by 36.4% than existing conditions by 1991. Followingly, adjustment of the present urban redevelopment project is proposed and the resulting impact on traffic is tested to search for the guidelines for future policy direction. |
