Title |
A Study on the Territoriality in the Single-family Housing Design |
Abstract |
The notion that Built Environment decides the Human Behavior has been wide-spread, and so buliding work has been performed according to this view. But in the process of adapting to the Built Environment, some feature becomes outstanding, that is, Human Behavior would control the Built Environment rather than controlled by it. Then, as a result of that tendency, sometimes users' behavior patterns appear contrary to the architects' original intentions. The purpose of this study is to reduce such a gap between the intentions of the architects and the practical behavior patterns of the users. And this study is centered on the subject of Territoriality which is one of the key concepts in the Environmental Psychology. For the achievement of this purpose, this study analyzes the territorial behavior characteristics and needs of the residents of Single-Family Housing through a case study, and suggests guidelines applicable to the architectural design basing on the results of this analysis. |
