A Elastic lateral Buckling Strength of Doubly Symmetric H-Section Beams |
Abstract |
The lateral buckling strength of beams depends on loading conditions, end support conditions and restraint conditions. In the present design formula proposed or specified by each countries, loading and end support conditions are considered partly, but the consideration of the restraining effect is quite insufficient. In this study, differential equations of equilibrium are suggested, which are prepared for each conditions by modeling. And elastic lateral buckling strength is evaluated by the numerical analysis based on these differential equations. Analytical results thus obtained for various loading and supporting conditions are compared with those hitherto presented by representative researchers, and the validity af this analytical procedure is confirmed. Then the buckling strength of beams restrained along their span length are analysed using this method, and practical design formulae are proposed. |
