Title Finite Element Analysis of the Stiffener Efficiency of H-shape Beam with Rectangular Hole

Abstract The efficiencies of the stiffners of a H-shape beam with rectangular hole in center were studied by the finite element method.The purpose of this study is to suggest the method of reinforcement of the h-shape beam with rectangular hole. In this study the analysis has been carried out by 8 node rectangle element based on the plane stress approach. To verify the usefulness of the finite element method displacements and stresses have been calculated for the perfect beam with no hole by this method and compared with values calculated by elastic beam theory. The results showed very close agreements. the errors being less than 2%. In the analysis the efficiences of the stiffners of the beam performated in the center have been investigated for the reveral types of reinforcing stiffners by calculating the maximum delfection and the maximum stresses.
