A Study on Space of Kyong in Korean Confusion architecture |
| Abstract |
This Study is on Confucian architecture in Korea.In Korean Confucian architecture, it have got the element of rite space in common which have respected forefathers; It is called "Space of Kyong". Kyong is superintedence of mind and a souce of all the things.We can say that idea of Kyong evolved from that is the basic human attitude with reverence to the universe. Therefore, it is natural that Space of Kyong Have always been contained in Confucian architecture.It have had some specific characteristics in Korean traditional houses. That is followed;1.The prospect is almost always defined at location of north area and south orientation.2.The location from main building is usually defined north area (north, north-east, north-west).3.Space of Kyong is remained its degnity with some principles of disposing to far distance from main gate and visual isolation, etc.4.Space of Kyong is classified 'closure type'and 'open Type' generally and the former is the general feature of middle part and the latter is that of south part in Korea.Generally, the symbolic feature of Kyong Space is evolved through 'Enthusiasim for Universe', 'Centural Idea', 'Hierarchical Order', and 'Sphere of Boun dary', etc. |
