Stability Analysis of Thin-Walled Members by Transfer Matrix |
Abstract |
An analysis method of stability for thin-walled beams subjected to initial stresses is presented in this research. The equilibrium equations are derived from the virtual displacement theorem, in which the finite strains are considered. The field matrices are obtained from the general solution of the first order linear differential equations for the displacements and the equilibrium equations.The numerical comparison with known exact solutions in application examples have shown that the proposed method has given quite satisfactory results, having proved itself to be useful analytic scheme for the stability of thin-walled beams. |
